15 Weeks "There's a baby in there!"

I just realized I'm a week behind on these posts.  The plan was to do (for example) week 15 in the very beginning of week 16 and so forth.  But here we are half way through 16 and you just heard about 14.  OK, quick catch up time...believe me, you didn't miss too much.

In week 15, we had another doctor appointment.  The way our clinic works, is every other time we meet with our Doc and then the next time with our Nurse Practitioner, who we had not met yet.  And as it turns out, she too is wonderful and awesome.  It was a quick, maybe 15 minute appointment and we finally got to hear Baby K's heartbeat!  It was 140 beats per minute, which is right in the middle of where it should be at this part of the pregnancy (120-160/minute is normal).  As we were walking out of the exam room, Matt turned to me and whispered excitedly, "There's a baby in there!" Hearing the heartbeat (after not being able to at our 11 week appointment) made this whole experience even more real and exciting. :)

We'll have about one doctor appointment a month up until the final month or two, when we'll have to go in once a week.  Next month we should be able to find out what kind of baby we're having!  Whenever I say that to Matt he always replies, "It's probably a human baby."  Cross your fingers for the little nut to spreading his/her legs wide open (The only time I will EVER hope for that or utter that phrase) so we can find out if we're having a human boy or a human girl.  We're pretty convinced it's a boy so far, just because boys are so prevalent in Matt's family, but a small part of me thinks it may be a girl.  Matt was looking online and found out about an old wives tale that can predict the sex of your baby based on the heart rate.  It claimed:

> 140 beats/minute = girl
< 140 beats/minute = boy

Seriously old wive's tale?  And seriously Baby K?

I guess we'll see soon enough :)
